Rehabilitation Psychiatry

Overview

The Rehabilitation Team now consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Junior Doctor, a Senior Social Worker, a Senior Occupational Therapist, a Psychologist and administrative support.

The Team base is at 140 St Lawrence’s Road, Clontarf, Dublin 3. Individual multidisciplinary team care planning has been started for all clients of the rehabilitation team. This involves regular lengthy individual case reviews involving the client, their family, carers and those involved in care provision. Referrals to the Rehabilitation Psychiatry team are accepted from Consultant Psychiatrists working within the St Vincent’s Hospital service.

Supported Services

There are two high support hostels one providing a home for patients who are likely to need continuing high levels of support (Grace Park Gardens with 16 beds) and the other with a rehabilitation focus where residents are likely to move on from (Gallen House with 16 beds).

Access to the hostels is through referral from Community Mental Health Teams to the Placement Committee

In addition there are a range of medium and low support accommodations. Two day units (Tara House and St. John’s) provide important rehabilitation inputs to hostel residential and community based patients. There is also a day social support centre based at 87 St. Lawrence’s Road catering for social support needs of these with long term illness and social needs.

Vocational rehabilitation is provided by Eve Holding or FĹS. Through these services in different sites there is a range of vocational options from Skill Base to supported and open employment.
