Continuing Care

St Mary’s Unit

St Mary’s is a 9-bed unit for people who require Continuing Care. The Philosophy of the unit is to care for the individual’s psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual needs utilising the concept of individualised care and primary nursing.

We are also aware of the needs of family and friends and of our role in supporting them.

Patient care is the responsibility of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes clinical nurse managers, nursing, health and social care professionals, and medical staff.

All people on the unit have access to a therapeutic and recreational programme. Activities may include but not limited to, Art Therapy, Exercise Classes, Outings, and Dog Therapy, Music and Games.

Access for their spiritual needs is through the Chaplaincy Department, which also includes a regular Spiritual Group. There is a monthly Mass in the Hospital Church.
