The Psychotherapy Service provides clinical placements to students of psychotherapy who are at a advanced stage of their psychotherapy training and has long established links with a number of psychotherapy training programmes all of which are in turn (either directly or indirectly) linked to University MSc or Doctorate level programmes.

Students on placement may be training in a range of different psychotherapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, Psychoanalytic, Integrative etc.) and will usually undertake a placement of one year, which can sometimes be extended.

In addition to this the Psychotherapy Service provides a limited number of internships to recently qualified psychotherapists who wish to increase their knowledge and awareness of working within a mental health setting. These internships are also usually of one year duration.

The Psychotherapy Service also provides a number of formal teaching workshops and courses throughout the year for mental health professionals on working psychotherapeutically with patients (e.g. courses on CBT, Family-Systemic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Counselling Skills etc.)

Finally, the Psychotherapy Service runs an internal monthly seminar programme, holds regular peer supervision meetings and also offers (on request) Clinical Case Consultations to colleagues who may wish to explore / discuss various psychotherapeutic perspectives on a case they may be working with.
