The library provides various resources to all staff and students of SVHF. These are available for loan or in some cases may be accessed online.

Audio-Visual Collection

The library lends a range of DVDs and VHS videocassettes on mental health and general health issues, both for staff-training and patient information purposes.

 

Book Collection

A collection of over 4,000 books on psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, psychology, psychotherapy, sociology, research, ethics, law, general medicine, education/research and management. A separate section of reference books includes dictionaries, subject dictionaries, encyclopaedias, drug handbooks and assessment scales.

 

Electronic Books

Click here for a list of e-books the library owns. They are available to download or read online. E-Books are available through Athens.

 

Government Publications

This collection comprises Irish statutory reports and legislation, reports by European organisations and reports by the World Health Organisation. Reports by British government departments and the Royal College of Psychiatrists are also included here. A large number of Irish health publications are also available online.

 

Health & Wellness Collection

This collection is intended to promote staff wellbeing. There are a number of books on personal health issues, health cookbooks, exercise DVDs, movies on DVD and video, and continuing education booklets.
